KEEPING PETS SAFE DURING HURRICANES AND TROPICAL STORMS

In a storm, Patra de Silva, president of NHV Natural Pet Supplements, recommends the following tips:

“It’s crucial to plan ahead. Make sure you have enough food, water, supplements, litter or pads to last for several days. If you are weathering the storm at home, keep your pet in a carrier or crate during the height of the wind and rain to protect them and enable you to easily locate them in case there is damage to your house or in the need to evacuate.”

The hurricane season of 2017 is going strong, and is not showing any signs of letting up. Among the chief storm-related preparations are the steps that pet owners must take to keep their furry friends safe.

NEW YORK, NY – September 22, 2017 – During a storm, hurricane or other natural disaster, “First and foremost, do not leave your pets alone at home,” says Patra de Silva, President of NHV Natural Pet Products, makers of herbal and plant-based supplements that are veterinarian approved.  In a storm, Ms. de Silva recommends the following tips:

It’s crucial to plan ahead.  Make sure you have enough food, water, supplements, litter or pads to last for several days.  If you are weathering the storm at home, keep your pet in a carrier or crate during the height of the wind and rain to protect them and enable you to easily locate them in case there is damage to your house or in the need to evacuate.  Keep your pet calm and reassured.  If your dog or cat is prone to anxiety, NHV LessStress for dogs or NHV Matricalm for cats can help.  They are formulated to act on the nervous and immune systems to help reduce anxiety and excitability.

In the event that evacuation becomes necessary, feed pets a small meal two hours prior to traveling in the car. This will help alleviate car sickness. Secure pets safely in carriers that are large enough to move around in and are well ventilated. Make frequent rest stops for walks.  Remember to bring food, water, bowls, leashes, medicines and toys.

If you go to a public shelter, your pets may be in close quarters with many other animals, putting them at risk for fleas, kennel cough and more.  Comb for fleas daily and Use NHV Target Spray to help keep fleas, lice, ticks and mosquitoes  off of your pets.  It is all-natural and works quickly. NHV Kennel Cough Kit is an herbal remedy that helps prevent and manage respiratory issues.

After the storm, be cautious when going outside.  There may be hazardous power lines, standing water or fallen trees.  Keep dogs safely on a leash and don’t venture very far.   If returning home to damaged property, keep pets in crates or a designated safe area until all dangerous debris is removed.

NHV NATURAL PET PRODUCTS provides veterinarian-formulated herbal supplements derived from organically grown or ethically wild crafted herbs to support the health and well-being of pets including dogs, cats and other small animals.
