Anna’s War is a tragic yet beautiful love story that goes through many phases and takes on many dark themes with mystifying twists and thrilling turns. Jack has an identical twin named George and while both have different personalities, the pair can contact each other using their telepathic power. The duo switch places as Jack becomes George to work with their father as a doctor in his surgery, while George becomes Jack joining the RAF as a pilot flying over Normandy. As the world around Anna descends into war, an internal war also begins as she tries to reconcile her relationship with who she believes to be George. Jack is tormented being in such closeness to Anna as he watches her beginning to fall in love with an American GI and knowing that as George he just has to stand back and watch it happen, which drives him into even deeper despair. While Penny Altmann is a professional artist with a large audience, this is her debut as a professional writer. Having written bits and pieces since she was a young child, Altmann has always experienced a unique knack for writing. In this new release, she provides a unique take on literary romance and creates a vibrant and dynamic tale of love that is bound to woo even the pickiest romance aficionado. Currently residing in La Mayenne, France, Altmann has spent many years of her life living in Normandy while raising her children. Living in Normandy was one of her biggest inspirations for the story as she experienced the rich history and culture of the places around her.
Altmann has also written three children’s books so she can draw illustrations for the books that she plans to also publish one day. Having only written small manuscripts and children’s books in the past, Anna’s War was somewhat of a revelation for Altmann. The story for the book came naturally to Altmann as she spent many arduous days and nights perfecting the story for the world to enjoy.
